Key Numbers

New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement publishes one of the most detailed monthly statements of state gambling revenue in the country. Its December 2025 release, issued on January 16, 2026, includes full-year totals for 2025 and for 2024, which makes it possible to profile the state’s gambling data by category, by month and by tax. This page compiles those figures.

Total gaming revenue for casinos, racetracks and their partners was $6,982,549,243 in 2025, an increase of 10.8% from $6,299,301,302 in 2024. Internet gaming win was the largest category at $2,911,241,318, ahead of casino win at $2,894,141,795, with sports wagering revenue at $1,177,166,130.

Gaming taxes came to $1,007,840,251 for the year, equal to about 14.4% of total revenue. All amounts are in U.S. dollars, cover calendar year 2025, and use the Division’s definitions, which are described next.

What the Division Reports

The Division reports three revenue categories. Casino win is reported for the nine casino hotels and is the sum of slot machine win and table game win. Internet gaming win is reported for the casinos and their partners and includes a peer-to-peer line. Sports wagering revenue is reported for the casinos, racetracks and their partners, and splits into online sportsbook revenue and sportsbook lounge revenue. Total gaming revenue is the sum of the three categories, which the figures in this page confirm to the dollar for both years.

The Division’s own table labels one line other authorized games, which equals internet gaming win excluding the peer-to-peer line: $2,880,973,097 in 2025, which together with $30,268,221 of peer-to-peer win makes the $2,911,241,318 internet total. This page shows the peer-to-peer line as part of internet gaming win, as the Division does.

Revenue here is what the operators report after paying winnings, not the amount wagered, and it is not profit. The release is dated January 16, 2026, and the Division notes that its gaming tax amounts are unaudited and subject to adjustment, so the tax figures in particular may be revised later. Two tax rates also changed during 2025: effective July 1, 2025, the internet gaming gross revenue tax rate increased from 15% to 19.75%, and the online sports wagering gross revenue tax rate increased from 13% to 19.75%.

New Jersey Gaming Revenue in 2025

Table 1 sets the Division’s 2025 category totals beside 2024.

Total gaming revenue $6,982,549,243 $6,299,301,302 +10.8%

Casino win rose 2.7% to $2,894,141,795, with slot machine win up 1.7% and table game win up 5.7%. Slots made up about 73.7% of casino win ($2,131,627,118 of $2,894,141,795) and tables 26.3%. Internet gaming win grew 22.0%, a gain of $524,077,146, and online sportsbook revenue rose 8.2% to $1,147,715,655, while the smaller sportsbook lounge line fell 12.1%.

Percent change = (2025 value − 2024 value) ÷ 2024 value × 100

where: each value is the same category for the two calendar years. For total gaming revenue, ($6,982,549,243 − $6,299,301,302) ÷ $6,299,301,302 gives 10.8%, matching the Division’s reported figure.

Mix, Growth and December Results

The mix of New Jersey’s revenue shifted in 2025. Table 2 shows each category’s share of the total.

Table 2. Share of total gaming revenue by category (calculated from Table 1)
Category 2025 share 2024 share Change
Casino win 41.5% 44.7% −3.3 pp
Internet gaming win 41.7% 37.9% +3.8 pp
Sports wagering revenue 16.9% 17.4% −0.5 pp
Share % = category revenue ÷ total gaming revenue × 100

where: category revenue is casino win, internet gaming win or sports wagering revenue, and total gaming revenue is the sum of the three. Internet gaming’s share rose from 37.9% to 41.7%, moving ahead of casino win, whose share fell from 44.7% to 41.5%. Of the $683,247,941 total increase in revenue, internet gaming contributed $524,077,146, or about 76.7%, with sports wagering contributing about 12.1% and casino win about 11.2%.

The December results show the same pattern more sharply. Table 3 compares December 2025 with December 2024.

Table 3. New Jersey gaming revenue, December 2025 vs December 2024 (U.S. dollars; source: NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement)
Category Dec 2025 Dec 2024 Change
Slot machine win $159,112,551 $167,971,862 −5.3%
Table game win $57,009,826 $63,781,037 −10.6%
Casino win $216,122,377 $231,752,899 −6.7%
Internet gaming win $273,178,572 $228,010,888 +19.8%
Sports wagering revenue $116,274,282 $62,837,741 +85.0%
Total gaming revenue $605,575,231 $522,601,528 +15.9%

Total revenue in December 2025 was $605,575,231, up 15.9%, even though casino win fell 6.7% to $216,122,377. Internet gaming win rose 19.8% and sports wagering revenue rose 85.0%, from $62,837,741 to $116,274,282. A single month is volatile, particularly for sports wagering, whose revenue depends on results in that month, so the December change should not be read as a trend.

Gaming Taxes and Where They Go

The Division also reports gaming taxes by type and by recipient. Table 4 summarizes the taxes against the revenue they apply to.

Table 4. Gaming taxes by type, calendar year 2025 (U.S. dollars; source: NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement; ratio calculated)
Tax category Taxes, 2025 Revenue, 2025 Taxes ÷ revenue
Casinos (8% gross revenue tax + 1.25% investment alternative tax) $216,830,608 $2,894,141,795 7.5%
Internet gaming (19.75% gross revenue tax + 2.5% investment alternative tax) $581,875,031 $2,911,241,318 20.0%
Sports wagering (gross revenue taxes + additional taxes) $209,134,612 $1,177,166,130 17.8%
All gaming taxes $1,007,840,251 $6,982,549,243 14.4%

Total gaming taxes were $1,007,840,251 in 2025, of which internet gaming contributed $581,875,031, or about 57.7%. The Division separately reports total gross revenue taxes of $884.1 million for the year, which excludes the investment alternative taxes and additional sports wagering taxes that make up the rest of the grand total.

Taxes ÷ revenue % = gaming taxes ÷ revenue × 100

where: gaming taxes are the 2025 totals in Table 4 and revenue is the matching 2025 revenue. The 20.0% ratio for internet gaming and 17.8% for sports wagering are blended results, because the gross revenue tax rates for both rose to 19.75% on July 1, 2025, and the casino ratio reflects the Division’s note that its gross revenue tax includes the effect of promotional gaming credits. They are therefore not statutory rates.

Table 5 shows who received the money.

Table 5. Gaming tax revenue by recipient, calendar year 2025 (U.S. dollars; source: NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement; shares calculated)
Recipient 2025 Share
Casino Revenue Fund $801,505,760 79.5%
Atlantic City PILOT $108,941,808 10.8%

Racetrack municipalities (economic development) $6,388,702 0.6%
Total $1,007,840,251 100%

The Casino Revenue Fund received $801,505,760, which is 79.5% of the total. In December 2025 alone, gaming taxes were $100,886,812 on revenue of $605,575,231.

Methodology & Limitations

Datasets: the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s December 2025 gaming revenue release (January 16, 2026), including its December 2025 and year-to-date revenue statistics and its gaming tax statistics, accessed in October 2026. Every revenue and tax figure in this page is taken from that document.

Calculations: shares are category revenue divided by total gaming revenue; percent changes use the formula shown above and match the Division’s reported percentages; taxes divided by revenue divides the year’s gaming taxes by the same year’s revenue for the matching category; contribution to growth is a category’s dollar increase divided by the total dollar increase. Percentage-point changes in Table 2 are simple differences of shares.

Limitations: the release reports revenue, not handle or customer counts, so no hold or betting volume is shown here. The Division describes its tax amounts as unaudited and subject to adjustment. Tax rates changed on July 1, 2025, so full-year ratios blend two rate periods. Revenue categories follow the Division’s definitions and are not directly comparable with other states’ reports, which define revenue and deductions differently. Only calendar years 2025 and 2024 are compared, and the page does not describe the law behind any rate.
